Comic Book-like Effect In Photoshop

By Rick Blythe

Below, you'll find extensive information on leading comic book effect in photoshop articles and products to help you on your way to success.

Here is a cool Photoshop effect I kind of stumbled upon while experimenting with someone else's effect. This could easily be made into a Photoshop action too.

Open the photo you want to use in Photoshop.
Open the layer palette and make two copies of the photo.
Click on the top layer and change the blend mode to difference.
Then click on Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur at Radius 9.0
Then go to Layer>Merge Down.

Make sure the top copy in the layers palette is highlighted and again change the blend mode to difference.
Click on Layer>Merge Down again.
Then

go to Filters>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask and enter these settings: Amount - 100%, Radius 15 pixels and Threshold 0
That's it! If you want a brighter, more detailed and less flat look, run the USM again at the same settings.
